Huntsville Soccer Club Adult Strikers

The Huntsville Soccer Club's Adult Strikers team recently traveled to the NCISL Tournament in Kanata, Ontario.  The tournament was held on September 6th - 7th and was the first tournament the Adult Strikers competed in.

The team arrived at the Insmill Field in Kanata on a very wet afternoon.  Their first game was against the Goulbourn MR4 and was hard fought in the rain.  Goulbourn managed to score and the game was still very competitive.  Unfortunately in the 2nd half, Brandon Occhiuzzi scored on his own net in a clearance attempt to put Goulbourn up 2-0.  The game finished as such and was a bit of a disappointment.

The Adult Strikers second game was against the Ottawa Irons F.C., a little over an hour later.  The weather was still harsh and the Strikers had a hard time keeping up with a much younger team.  The wet conditions made it difficult to get grip and people sliding, stumbling and falling were a common sight.  Ultimately overpowered, the Strikers lost their 2nd game 2-0.

The morale was low, but the Strikers were determined to win their third game to finish on a high.  The rain had stopped for their third game against the Nortel Block.  Dave Caplan got the ball rolling with the first goal, and goals by Mitch Pinnegar and John Bastedo sealed the fate of the Nortel Block.  Winning 3-0, the Adult Strikers felt the entire tournament was a huge success.
